The
Experimental Aircraft Association Loren Hodge Chapter 274 holds
chapter fundraisers and each
event includes Young Eagles Flights (YEF) which are free flights
for kids ages 8-17.
The Young Eagle program is the
largest youth aviation initiative and was designed to introduce
kids to aviation. The volunteer pilots of Decatur EAA have hosted over 5,000 kids in Young Eagle flights in Decatur.
With over 85,000 EAA members and
35,000 volunteer pilots, EAA reached a major goal by flying the
1 millionth Young Eagle on January 17, 2004 flown by aviation
legend and EAA member Gen. Chuck Yeager.
